Fifty years after he created the sandwich that launched America's top chicken restaurant chain, Georgia businessman Samuel Truett Cathy died early Monday. Cathy's Chick-fil-A has now grown to $5 billion in annual sales, and its stores still close on Sundays, reflecting its founder's religious beliefs.
Cathy's death was announced by Chick-fil-A, which said, "He died peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones."
Last year, Chick-fil-A surpassed KFC with the most sales for a chicken restaurant chain in the U.S., on the strength of recent rapid growth. The company reached $1 billion in sales in 2000. After hitting $3 billion in 2009, sales grew by $1 billion every two years to 2013
Will his heirs now cave to the libs?
We eat at CFA after shooting on Fridays. Girls shoot free at Outdoor World on Fridays.
He would never roast. ...deep fry maybe, but not roasting.
Truett Cathy was a courageous man, and I have tried to support Chick-Fill-A, but, to be honest, their food is not all that great.
Those comments are from the “tolerant” and “non-hateful”, “non-bigoted” liberals.
Not a surprise to read any of that hateful, disgusting nonsense in the least. They don’t even know he hasn’t been directly in charge of the company for a very long time, either.
Just more evidence of liberalism being a mental disorder.
He was a man who understood good business practices.
One of my favorites was that he trained all of his offspring to do the same. Any one of them can run a business, as well as a charity. This likely means they won’t destroy what he built, or squander it away with poorly managed charity.
They will be able to look at the companies or charities books and know what they mean, and if everything is above board and well run.
He has guaranteed the success of Chick-fil-A for another generation or two.
And all of this without even mentioning his superior hiring and employee management practices. It is incredibly hard to break a business with loyal employees.
From what I’ve read, a son of the founder is president of the company and made a statement in support of traditional marriage. And they’ve publicly said that they will remain closed on Sundays.
Time will tell if the company shifts with the tide of corporate liberalism.
