SAN JOSE -- A San Jose resident who was one of several people recording the aftermath of an officer-involved shooting in South San Jose last month is alleging he was intimidated and threatened with detainment for refusing to surrender his cellphone or delete the images he took.
The allegations are contained in an Aug. 21 internal-affairs complaint filed by Andrew Payne and comes as the issue of recording police performing their duties in public has gained national attention in light of the civil unrest in Ferguson, Missouri...

What would it take to arm them?
My guess is minutes.
Equipping domestic police with vehicles that are designed as platforms for weapons for military use, even if they are not currently armed - is a harbinger of their future use as a combat platform WITH military weaponry, else why use them at all?
If police are not to be used as a domestic military 'civilian security force', then why not let vehicles designed for civilian transport (I'm fine with armored cars like Brinks trucks etc.) suffice for police?
If the foundational design of a vehicle is for the purpose of being used in a combat role and a weapons platform - regardless that it is argued it is 'merely defensive' (which is bunk BTW), it would take nothing to use those vehicles for the purpose they were designed and intended, which is to mount military weaponry .
I don't give a rat's ass if it is argued it is defensive or not. Such a platform can and WILL be used in an offensive manner against civilians at some point.
Especially if you understand that 'fundamental transformation' was about establishing a Marxist coup that always starts velvety and runs red when consolidation of power takes place.

I don’t see any heavy mounted weaponry. The vehicles are therefore defensive in nature. Their lethality is limited to that of the weapons carried by the occupants.

There is a difference between an armed vehicle and an armed guy riding in a vehicle. If I am sitting in my truck with a handgun in my pocket or a rifle in my arms, it doesn’t become an armed vehicle.
That such vehicles can be quickly rearmed is entirely possible. I don’t know what steps, if any, are taken to demilitarize them.

It depends if the imagOR is in any way impacting the officer’s ability to question or arrest. This then becomes a subjective decision by the LEO, which will likely result in the LEO doing as much as possible to get the content. Of course, this will vary from venue to venue.
Domestic civilian police forces should NEVER have any kind of vehicle or equipment that would create a discussion about what it takes to demilitarize them.
You do not permit that equipment to be used by domestic civilian police forces in a free republic.
But then, we are not free or a republic any longer are we? I think this discussion proves we are not.
Full auto and an armored vehicle is unreasonable force against unarmed demonstrators. The armored car and M16
tell the onlookers that “we hate you, and we’re afraid of you”.
In Texas a couple of DPS or Troopers would sidle over to the crowd and tell ‘em that its time to head home, and off they’d go. Cops can’t do their job right if they’re afraid for their lives.
And in doing so, you’ll “punish” your fellow taxpaying citizens, not the officers who assaulted your person.
Given the number of such lawsuits across the country, this method of “punishment” isn’t solving the problem of police officers abusing their power.
Boy, when that internal affairs complaint gets investigated, that cop’s really gonna’ be in trouble!
