A Blessed Lord's Day to you!

"Dia shábháil ar fad anseo!"

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

I really like Rachmaninoff’s “Vespers”.

He has a little more room for expression, it seems, than in “The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom”. The format and Text of the Divine Liturgy is very strict, and there were some serious rules to which The “Rock” had to adhere. Even so, his settings of the text were “controversial”.

The Vespers seem to be more like a prayer service, and the music is a little more free and innovative.

This is Just my humble opinion, based on listening.

And I listen to my recording of the Divine Liturgy almost every night, so I almost know the sound of it by heart.

Right now I am listening to Chopin’s Nocturnes. (Heavenly!)
