A bit like playing a video game for hours on end, with real lives at stake.

It's very difficult on your love life, also.
Very few controllers, of any age, haven't been divorced at least once.

Oh, the job itself is very rewarding.
But the people you work for, above you, few of them can do the job themselves.
Therefore, they put unreasonable demands on you, and make the job MORE difficult.
Then when the traffic flow slows down, your fellow controllers can be ~ verbally, very cutting.
Nothing like consuming your own, just for fun.
Very few can actually train others on HOW to do the job.
