There is no country with a falling obesity rate. Little comfort in numbers this time but along with us about a third of the world is overweight.

I read that yesterday and thought of the absurdity of the statement.

First how are weight standards developed arbitrarily or mathematically?

If the standards are arbitrary then what is the standard? A German businessman, an American geek, a Saudi prince or a Somali pirate?

If developed mathematically, then averages would be developed compared to height and/or waistline. If 30% of the people in the world don't meet that calculated number then it is time to recalculate because the standard has become outdated.
