A man killed by police officers in Texas on Saturday was armed only with a pellet gun and was shot more than 80 times, leaving him with 'no face', family members said.
The Laredo Police Department said it placed six officers who allegedly opened fire on Jose Walter Garza on administrative duties pending an internal investigation, media reported.
The incident, much of which was recorded on a surveillance camera, took place outside a truck stop on Saturday at around 2 am.

.. or a wooden cane.
yup. i think making these so much like the originals makes it impossible to know it’s a replica/toy.
I guess it means she will have him cremated. It was written rather oddly, but journalists are not the best at writing these days and often it is difficult to decipher what they mean.
Maybe it’s time to dispense with the handguns and equip the cops with RPGs instead. Perhaps it will help with the factors of uncertainty.
fyi
Good Lord, is that the same incident? It looks like an attack from an A-10 or something. People running every which way among the impacts - sheesh! It doesn’t really look like the same location, though. Maybe that (25 second) vid is actually a drug gang hit?
Cops didnt know he was schizophrenic or that it was a pellet gun. Sad, but lunatic with gun threatening/shooting cops...gets face blown off. Thats the rule every time. Its a good rule in this day.

“I guess it means she will have him cremated.”
That makes sense. I was having visions of a shallow dug grave and a bag of quicklime.
Flash grenade?
some people want to die but they want a cop to be the weapon of choice. Its called suicide by cop.
this is almost always my conclusion when people act out when interacting with the police. they want to die.
I can’t see why she would change her mind on how to have the funeral but grief affects people in strange ways at times.
AW, isn't that sweet, you are flashing a realistic gun at us.
First, let's talk about your mental status.
Have a seat right there.
Now tell us what kind of feelings you're having.
Oh, it's a REAL .45 your flashing?
Guess we better let you get a couple of shots off, first. That way you'll feel much better.
Guess we have to tell the cop's widow that you were just having a bad day.
That will make everything just fine.
And the cop's face?
Let's just say there won't be an open casket.
But as long as we're being PC, isn't that the most important thing?
I am not a big fan of police.
That being said. What is suppose to happen? A cop get shot before they know it was a pellet gun? Are the cops equipped with superman type vision where they can magically scan the pellet gun to know it’s a pellet gun? I have a cheapo pellet gun that looks just like a 1911. You can’t tell the difference. Take a look at some of the airsoft replicas. They are identical in every way to firearms.
80 rounds? Well. Dead from 1 or 80. What’s the difference.
That's too unsafe. The number one priority is safety. Police work should be done by remote robots, with orbiting drones equiped with hellfire missles. At the slightest sign that someone is upset, the entire area, to a limit of a full square mile, needs to be obliterated with missiles while the police operator in a bunker is given stress relief therapy, a year off with pay, and a promotion.
It's the only way to be sure. Anything less is the opinion of people who want cops to die.
More than likely, he was shot by a couple of leo’s with shotguns loaded with double ought pellets.
This is a damn Brit reporter, who knows less about guns than our liberal reporters do.
I don’t know what that was, but it wasn’t someone being shot at. Those were explosions.

Think about what you just posted. Maybe just maybe the cops are way to quick to start killing. Probably didn’t have a choice in this case but they do in many other instances.
You do have a good point.
