Is it a case of “Do as I tell you and you get your fix?” I mean, you have to wonder what is going on. His behavior does not seem normal.
I see him as a functional addict. When he is away from his “substance”, he has short attention span and is antsy. The time this hit home was when he left an important meeting in the middle with no explanation. I have heard of that happening several times.
As a former smoker, it has happened to me. Not being able to smoke made me react badly.
