Bush isn't President anymore.
Amen. When even Freepers don’t get that it disgusts me.
Indeed — Bush & Cheney seem to have been following the PNAC policy to build secular democracy in the ME. McCain probably would have continued that policy, had he been elected. After all, he did say US troops would stay in the region for the next hundred years. That sounds like PNAC to me.
Obama has completely inverted that policy, and by encouraging the Arab Spring and pulling out of Iraq, has turned the progress made toward ME democracy upside-down and made the ME safe for a caliphate, as D’Souza projected in “2016”.
His decision instead to fight a Vietnam war in South Asia doomed America to a Democrat landslide in 2006 (just like 1974) and the election of an anti-American incompetent (just like 1976).
Of course Bush is no longer President. Of course it is Obama's policies which are making our situation radically worse. I do not dispute that.
But Bush's failure to adopt a victory strategy over our real enemies, and his absurd, near-delusional infatuation with "real" Islam is the proximate cause of Obama and all of our present difficulty.
