According to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, the Russian leader made the belligerent statement in a phone call with the outgoing EU leader, who is set to be replaced by Luxembourg's former prime minister Jean-Claude Juncker...

Your IGNORANCE is on display when you claim that this country can disarm for 20 YEARS, not modernize, and still think we have have Reagan’s military.

(hmmm, personal attacks are fun, maybe I should do that more when I disagree with someone)

Carpet bomb Russians in Ukraine and then deny it, saying it was some rebel faction fighting for Independence. That is what Russia is doing. Play the same war game.

Being so fearful that we let Russia invade neighboring countries without opposing them, and allow them to reestablish their deadly and evil empire.

Actually, most of us think of the Australians as our friend and ally.

Too bad you want to cut them out.

The Ukes are grossly under militarized and have little to no defense at all. Why Putin is taking this long is beyond me. He can have it at any time. He may be trying to slip in “unnoticed” through his so-called “rebels”, but everyone is on to his game. He could storm the Ukraine and take it all, but the latent NATO reaction is not fully understood at this time. THAT’S his problem.

I know that and used to believe it, too! But I no longer do! I do not like it either, but IMHO it’s the state of things in Australia. Perhaps I should not be too picky as to allies, but my mind has changed toward Australia.

Russia is no match for NATO and the free world, and is only pushing to get away with whatever they can get easily.

Ukraine has been looted and fleeced -including the military- for more than a decade by pro-Russian “leaders”. As soon as they finally dump the Moscow-kissing pigs, the Russians invade. Not like they had a chance to fix the mess.

NATO is only as good as its leader, and it has no leader. There is a large leadership vacuum in NATO because of O$hithead. So now, the 2nd, 3rd, 4th,...,etc., powers are trying to figger out who should take the lead. None want to because it also means the largest commitment of resources. So while NATO is playing the Keystone Cops, Putin has free reign.

Seems Russia has a plan..........

I think we can guess who China will back.....

This tells you all you need to know whether the EU will get involved with Ukraine or not, want to bet its a big fat NO.

Indeed, Yamamoto, educated at Harvard, would not even let the Japanese General Staff discuss it declaring to them his historic and iconic phrase that “invading America is foolish to contemplate because there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass”.

I still consider Australia a good and helpful ally.

“The Australian can also reveal the Abbott government is considering increasing Australia’s long-term presence in Afghanistan with the potential deployment of 200 special forces troops amid worldwide concern about the collapse of security in Iraq after the withdrawal of the US-led forces.

Membership of NATO’s Enhanced Partnership Program will give Australia permanent access to the organisation’s planning at the earliest stages of future operations and ensure an Australian presence in its governing councils. Sweden, Finland, Jordan and Georgia will also become enhanced partners.

The key topics will include Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine, the escalating Islamic State crisis across Iraq and Syria, the threat posed by foreign fighters returning from the conflict and the transition in Afghanistan.”

Exactly. Their chance has long passed. They are weak and in big trouble unless NATO sends in forces RIGHT NOW! Good luck with that. The losses over mere weeks can be devastating. So while NATO and the rest of the world converse, the Ukes are being terminated.
