People need to do more, broad based reading of the impacts of EMPs. The engineers are pretty much split on the amount of, and types of, energy needed to fry our country. A city? Sure, I guess. The entire country? Not likely by ISIS. Russia or China? Maybe.

Why do they need to bomb an electric grid when the US has so many soft targets: school buses, malls, WalMarts, McDonalds, minor bridges, gas stations, etc.

Why not several coordinated LOW-TECH attacks across the US on Sept. 11th? The result would be massive panic: easy to achieve and exactly what they want.

The power grid is far more significant than most people think. Just imagine, if there was no refrigeration and what that would mean for US food distribution. I’m afraid ISIS is going to hit us much harder than our electrical grid.

Just imagine, in addition to our electrical grid that key railroad and highway bridges are destroyed. You know the bridges over the Mississippi, Hudson and other major obstacles, severing our national transportation infrastructure. More food problems. Pipelines and oil storage facilities are sitting ducks for a 12 man team sporting heavy weapons that they have smuggled over the Mexican border. Just imagine 100 2 man sniper teams roaming our major cities creating the havoc that was seen in the DC sniper fiasco. ISIS has major quantities of high-explosives that they could use to destroy our maor dams, destroying electrical generation capacity as well as causing flooding problems down river. Poisons in our drinking reservoirs.

Now, let’s get down to brass tacks. It is obvious, and evident that Islamic terrorism has long sought to obtain and use weapons of mass destruction against the US. The easiest and simplest would be radiological dirty bombs, placed throughout a dozen major cities of the US. ISIS is said to be in possession of enough radiological materials to build dozens of dirty bombs. Once detonated, aside from the deaths caused by the radiation, the deaths caused by the ensuing panic would dwarf those of the deaths caused by the actual radiation. Just imagine a dozen cities whose real estate values plummet to zero value overnight and cannot be cleaned nor inhabited for hundreds of years. Imagine a dozen Katrinas taking place in mid winter and the inability of the Federal government to provide shelter or transportation to people to warmer climates, not to mention water and food. These are the scenarios that await our cavalier and incompetent political class. Not to worry though, they have created wonderful plans for “continuity of government” to protect themselves, relatives and friends from such events. The democrats are treasonously lax with our borders and the republicans are not far behind. My guess is that it would take less than a thousand, well-armed and well-financed men, who have been trained to a near-commando level. They wouldn’t even need the usual broad training given to special forces soldiers, but could be trained to very specific tasks. Think of a thousand Rambo’s running around the country, who are fully prepared to die.

Not true. If you shield electrical equipment, properly, it can be brought online as soon as the EMP pulse is over. This can be done in many ways, but the simplest is a metal box that is grounded, the Faraday cage, so to speak. A radio, and any other emergency electronics you can think of (a generator if you could afford to set one aside), would work, but the critical part is that it must be shielded and grounded properly. Ham radio rig, with some way to produce power for it, would also be a nice set aside.

Even if there was the desire by the Obama regime to keep our nation safe from a coordinated jihadi attack, perhaps in less than 2 weeks, there are not enough fed, state, and local ‘authorities’ to watch everything. It is up to us and our neighbors to remain vigilant and on the look out for these savages, as well as to keep an eye on likely targets; power stations, bridges, densely populated areas such as malls and theaters, our schools, etc. Of course it is also prudent to always be armed.
