Excellent post! Just a couple of nits: In your introduction, you meant to say that Class 2 elects members in 2008 and 2014 (not 2004); and the name of the WY congressman who was elected to the Senate in 1960 but died before taking office was Edwin Keith Thomson.
Sen-elect. Thomson’s first name was Edwin, but he preferred to go by Keith (in the same way Willard prefers to go by his middle name). Thomson’s death was particularly shocking, since he was only 41, he was to be the youngest Republican Senator for the 1961 session (though 3 Democrats were younger, Harrison Williams of NJ & Vance Hartke of IN (both born in 1919) with Frank Church of neighboring ID the youngest overall, born in 1924 and just 32 when elected in 1956).
