President Putin has called for talks to discuss "statehood" for eastern Ukraine, Russian media report.
He said the issue needed to be discussed to ensure the interests of local people "are definitely upheld".
His comments came after the EU gave Russian a one-week ultimatum to reverse course in Ukraine or face sanctions.

I wouldn’t forget about all of the racist attacks so-called “hate crimes” that have happened in Russia and I wouldn’t forget the holodomo either. Russia has its own neo-Nazis.
One thing for sure, making everybody buy more expensive health insurance increases cash flow to the health insurance industry, doesn’t it.

My Republican governor signed off on the Medicaid expansion part of Obamacare for Pennsylvania last week. It means more money flowing into private insurance companies contracting with the state and then more money flowing into hospitals as well.
Florida Governor Rick Scott, who comes from the hospital industry, also signed off on Medicaid expansion under Obamacare in his state.
More money for health insurance companies and hospitals is what I see and with my gov up for re-elect, I see campaign contributions from the private insurers who contract with state for Medicaid.

Sine, contrary to your moniker, you're not being rude I would like to elaborate.
I am not an expert in Ukrainian history having spent only two afternoons on Wikipedia.
But, from what I read the East didn't adopt a Fascist party or align with the Nazi's in the 40's, and didn't participate in the Anti-Semitic pogroms.
Thus the "usually sane". Maybe it's because they were always under Moscow's boot.
As for the comment on the west having "freedom", nobody in Ukraine has ever had freedom. Evan their free elections are usually corrupt, or, when not corrupt, lead to anti-republican power seizure by the winner.
It's a part of the world that's a LONG ways from Rule of Law. It always has been, and my always be "Rule by Man".

Why do you continue to lie? Is it congenital, or just when you're being emotional and irrational?
One word of advice, if you are a newcomer to the Ukraine threads (just an example, bear with me--I'm not suggesting that you are anything). Emotions tend to run high, because we do have some here who favor Russia over the U.S., and prefer to post Russian mis/disinformation just to rile everyone up.
Problem is when a conservative in the Buchanan-mold (again, not saying that you are) shows up, and notes that the Russian mis/disinformation dovetails with his opinions (and it's designed to be just that). He then, in turn, gets lumped-in with the Russians--even though the situation is foreign [pun intended] to him.
Conservatives should support smart policies and not get trapped into formulas where "Okay, we're always isolationists" or "Okay, let's kill them off, take their land, and go their for vacation (for no reason)".
There is nothing wrong with supporting Ukraine with better weapons and economic help to keep them from collapsing, and I'll give a good reason why: the Russkies are apparently already talking about doing this to Latvia (a small NATO country) using the whole "separatist" angle. Latvia has a large Russian population, although the majority do not support separatism (though the Russians are already putting out anti-Latvian propaganda). Ukraine did not have a majority of Pro-separatists either. It had only a minority within a minority in the East and South, and the only place where it closed in on having a large population of separatist support was in Crimea. Yet, obviously, this did not stop Russia from lying their butts off and invading Ukraine under the cover of a rebellion.
This is why Russia must be stopped here and now, otherwise it will just keep on happening, and this with the potential of destroying the NATO alliance if the United States does not act when Russia begins testing us in NATO countries using the same strategy.
The dissolution of NATO has been a primary Russian objective since the cold war. If the West is divided against a united totalitarian bloc headed by Russia, we are doomed.
You mean the NATO that attacked Serbia in support of Muslim insurgents in Serbia? Give me a break.
Can you explain why you are not concerned about continued Russian aggression (and Ukraine isn’t even the first victim to the “separatist” ploy) and direct threats against NATO? Do you want NATO dissolved? Yes, no?

The Crimean Muslims are naturally upset over the Russian takeover. They have lots of political support in Ukraine. Ukraine is a province of the original Ottoman Empire then divided up between Russia and Austria-Hungary. It was briefly independent before the Russians moved back in and create the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist state. The Tatars never got a vote in any of that, but now they are seeing their opportunity.
Ironic that for the second time in history, the NATO military threat is being proposed to support Sunni Muslims (the moderate kind although that is relative). NATO has never been used for any other purpose but to back up the Muslims.
I would have dissolved NATO in 1999,
