The Mississippi GOPe is the good ol’ boys club.
But the Cochran team immediately countered by citing a 1959 state supreme court decisionIOW, they countered with a liberal decision.
He should immediately follow the senator from Alaska’s lead and announce a write-in campaign. Screw the corrupt GOPe!
The GOP-e learned nothing from 2012.
If the Mississippi GOP-e isn’t interested in the conservative wing of the base, then the conservative wing of the base should sit this one out.
And—before you flame—please explain to me what significant changes re Obama and the DIM agenda will take place if the Republicans capture the Senate.
McDaniel’s error was in not anticipating the vile GOPe effort and its potential. Truth be known, there should have been no *need* for anticipating because it was plain to see just how desperate the GOPe campaign effort would get well in advance of election day.
The papers to contest the election should have been filled out, in advance, weeks ahead of the election.
This is what prepared, proactive people do. They do not get overconfident. They play out scenarios where everything goes wrong and prepare for them.
Politics, like it or not, is a big money, slash and burn deadly serious game. Amateurs most often get amateur results. I’m sorry for but not surprised at the results.
McDaniel filed the challenge 41 days after the election; McGehee said that under state law the challenge had to be filed within 20 days.
The fix was in the minute after the first primary vote. McDaniel with adequate staff and personnel could have rammed it up Barbour and Cochran’s rectum with the runoff but elementary, amateurish and stupid actions by his camp turned off many voters that supported him in the first vote. McDaniel’s subsequent attempts at challenging the runoff voting was orchestrated with incompetence. The wheels came off McDaniel early with his staff’s and his mishandling of the nursing home incident.
Just d—n!
Although the horse has escaped from the barn on this situation, I’m going to sound the McDaniel alert for such situations in the future.

Anything to take down Cochran and the gop at this point, i am for it!
If I lived there I couldn’t vote for Cochran, I would hate doing it and knowing the horrible cost, but you can’t just submit to every evil, sometimes you have to say that yeah, I do know the cost to myself, but I will not be participating with you, because you are asking for a level of submission that I won’t give.
One good thing that came out of this incident is that it helped to weaken the credibility of the GOP.
if you are going to challenge your election defeat, don’t waste time doing it, don’t depend on their NOT being some deadline you need to meet, exceed any perceived deadline and avoid legal arguments that only by some deadline did you fail
it sounds like team McDaniel failed to do their homework
the sadder part of this failure is that the substance of the challenge never gets ITS day in court, which means McDaniel and his supporters can continue to feel he was robbed but only was prevented form showing it in court
The Barbour gang had county election clerks drag their feet and throw every road block possible in the way of investigating the election. The result was an investigation that took weeks longer than expected.
Then when McDaniel is ready to file the election challenge he first does the proper thing which is to approach the the MS State GOP Elections Board with results for them to review and decide so that court can be avoided. The State GOP refuses to review and so another week is lost.
Then McDaniel files his challenge in state court and the Cochran camp finds a case decided in 1959 that states election challenges must be filed within 20 days even though the election laws were completely rewritten later and the 20 day requirement was never mentioned.
But the parting shot is Barbour stating after the dismissal that McDaniel had no case to begin with. This is the tell tale sign of absolute corruption because only a despot would call out a judgement on a case that was ever heard, without any evidence ever argued.
Mississippi is a very corrupt state and even though there is an organization calling itself ‘GOP’ that has a lock on power, you can bet the GOP knuckleheads would turn democrat in a NY minute if given the opportunity. In fact Cochran was a democrat and Haley Barbour as well. These are people that are GOP for convenience, not for principle.
REMEMBER MISSISSIPPI!!!!
41 days? Then he deserves to lose. Idiot!
