One thing in support of Ledeen's analysis is the role of Turkey plays in all this. Clearly their a channel for support of IS, as a conduit from the Mullahs and / or Qatar and the other Sunni kingdoms.

But you're right. For Ledeen to be correct, the big story here would be a sudden new found love between Shia and Sunni, for which there is little evidence in Iraq, for example.
