Christians in the middle east are kinda slow on the uptake...
Not “slow on the uptake”. They have been in a difficult position for thousands of years.
This time it’s clear there is not even uneasy peace. They have nothing left to lose, they are being massacred anyway.
May Our Lord be with them in battle. I wish there was a fund we could contribute to to buy them arms and supplies.
That doesn't mean the neighbors of any Christian who joins the government or military is going exempt their family and extended family from all sorts of insults and little indignities because whatever Assad and his group say, most Muzzies can't stand the thought of Christians being equal to them. So, after generations of experience most Christians over there instinctively keep their heads down when trouble starts hoping it'll pass the same way Jews kept their heads down during various antisemitic pogroms all over Europe.
Those who accept the idea of Christians being equal and make that fact known are either in a position that isolates them as part of the elite or leave for some other country when they can because they're only slightly more accepted than Christians are.
Ok Mr. Armchair Warrior, we're all waiting to see what you would do if placed in the incredibly difficult situation that Christians in the Middle East find themselves. Bravado is cheap when you live in a (relatively) peaceful country and don't have to live in continual fear of having your home smashed into and your throat cut.
I'm no hero myself, but I have lived there.
