The nature of the threat the Islamic State poses to the West is a subject of much debate. Some indicate that the group is planning to execute attacks in the West at its nearest opportunity, while others say that the organization has designs only on capturing and holding territory in its neighborhood – and that’s a range of confused opinions coming from former and current administration officials.
While there is a robust debate over whether ISIS is planning to execute terrorist attacks against Western targets, there should be no debate that the origination is actively seeking the capability to carry out terror strikes.
According to a report in Foreign Affairs magazine on Thursday, investigators recently had an opportunity to inspect a Dell laptop allegedly linked to ISIS which was transported to Turkey from Syria. In that laptop, which belonged to a man who studied chemistry and physics at two Tunisian universities, contained files with instructions on how to manufacture weaponized bacterial agents.
The ISIS laptop contains a 19-page document in Arabic on how to develop biological weapons and how to weaponize the bubonic plague from infected animals.
“The advantage of biological weapons is that they do not cost a lot of money, while the human casualties can be huge,” the document states.
The document includes instructions for how to test the weaponized disease safely, before it is used in a terrorist attack. “When the microbe is injected in small mice, the symptoms of the disease should start to appear within 24 hours,” the document says.

This happens to be an area somewhat related to my field.
Weaponizing pathogens is just not that easy. The difficult part being distribution. While creating the weapons doesn’t always require massive investment of money, it most definitely requires great technical expertise and careful attention to detail in processing.
These are just not components of the jihadist mentality.
Don’t say it isn’t possible, but I think they would have great difficulty with such a program. Someone who really believes in Inshallah is by definition ill-suited to careful precise technical work. Doing so, in fact, implies a lack of faith.
Watch the guys going into combat on video. Spray and pray is the method of choice. If Allah wills the bullets will hit. That’s not the mentality of careful biological weapon processing.
A hundred thousand madmen equipped with heavy weapons, nasty germs, poison gas and the heartfelt desire to mass murder for Allah is not a comforting thought.

Germs will do a dandy job of killing people. The challenge is getting large numbers of people infected, which is a lot more difficult than we usually assume.
People tend to object when asked to line up for their shots.
Also, assuming truly virulent contagious bioweapons can be engineered, they are an “own goal” issue. You can’t limit the effects to the enemy. Over the long haul they will do as much damage to your side.
Of course, true fanatics might not care, or they might assume Allah will protect his own.
So, while I agree it’s scary, I just think there are much greater worries out there. Sure, they want to do bad things to us using germs, but their ability to carry through on those intentions is probably quite limited.

Had the Madrid train bombers been viral loaded with Ebola, you would have seen, of course, the mass casualties due to the shock/blast forces, but then, 1st responders (fire/emt/ems) and 1st receivers (hospital pax) would be prone to spreading ebola ALL OVER THE place. It truely would be a heinous and very effective dispersal method of ebola.

This is purely speculation on my part, but I suspect that both Putin and ISIS have just this week scared the pee out of Obama.
In their latest attack on a Syrian airbase, they used chemicals in the water to poison Syrian troops. It was effective. So they do attemp these things.
Not having a strategy against, is actually a strategy of support. Even Jesus takes out all those who are against Him when He returns. Only then will there be true peace on earth as we sing on Christmas.
According to the article, the writer suggested using grenades near AC vents as a delivery agent. But plague doesn’t infect people that way.

I was amused by the claim that the supposed terrorist scientist had studied physics and chemistry at university. These are, quite obviously, the most appropriate subjects of study for a budding bioterrorist. In actual fact, the person you want to be worried about is Bernadette on Big Bang Theory.
The most virulent, contagious and deadly form of plague is pneumonic, in which it's distributed through the air by droplets from the lungs of the infected person. So plague can be distributed through the air. I doubt, however, that it's very practical to make effective "plague grenades."
