On Friday, I was staying in Constitution Marina next to the mooring of the USS Constitution. Imagine my delight when that wonderful ship left it’s mooring and headed south towards the Boston Harbor. It was not in full sail but had some sail showing with a good south breeze pushing it along. The next day I asked the seaman as we went on board where it was going. “A harbor island, M’am.” Why? “To fire a 21 gun salute, m’am.” For whom? “For the island m’am.” Mr. Mercat assumed that the resident had flown in from Martha’s Vineyard.
A copuple of weeks ago I had the privilege of running into a group of conservatives from Massachusetts! I too live in a deep blue state so we commiserated at length and shared our mutual concerns over the current sad state of affairs. :)
