Where are their parents???!
Marriage is on the rocks in UK probably worse than here. At least one of the girls I read about was a latch-key kid.
And I might add, one of the things predators quickly learn to do is to threaten the children with bodily harm to their parent(s), pet(s) or friend(s) if they tell anyone. This is true in most cultures.
