Well.....the Confederate flag flew over the State House dome until May 2000 when it was moved to a place near the Confederate Soldier statue in front of the building.
“Be careful what you wish for”: it was actually not that easy to see before, up there over the dome cupola. At street level the Confederate battle flag is very conspicuous.
The NAACP had imposed a boycott on South Carolina ober the flag issue that is still in effect (moving the goal posts). Obama made a big show of staying only in private homes when he campaigned here. Those respecting the boycott have made our beaches the whitest on the Atlantic coast.

Removed by a turncoat Republican governor as I recall. He said he supported the flag when he was running for office but then revealed his politically correct stripes once he was safely in office.
