I find most transplants from Cali who move here (UT) are either fed-up conservatives or, otherwise, if LIBs, they tend to shut up. It is easy to tell who they are. Usually the LIBs’ heads are misshapen...as are their general attitudes. Most here don’t tolerate LIB BS.

And when they see it at work for themselves i.e.Ferguson, they cry out that the effect is somehow morally unjust, and therefore set out to change the outcome of any and all behaviors.

The ‘effect’ is what they seek to change, so that the cause is justified
