All kidding aside, this is great news!
RBI (Reviving Baseball in the Innercity) is a wonderful cause. This is good for baseball and great for kids.
50-60 years ago, you had big city HS basketball superstars like Tommy Davis and Frank Robinson choosing baseball over basketball. I bet a lot of today’s NBA players throw like girls.
Interesting bit of info, Jackie Robinson was also a great basketball player. He starred at UCLA in basketball as well as football, baseball, and track. In fact, a number of people were convinced he should have been the first black player AND would have been the first black superstar in the NBA if he had chosen that route. He actually played for a west coast athletic team called the Los Angeles Red Devils in the off season during the late forties. At 5’11, Robinson would frequently dunk in games and was a ballhandling whiz.
Reminds me of when Michael Jordan thought he could play base ball. He maintained about a .140 batting average on a minor league team. (But he did buy them a spiffy new bus.
