Harry Reid isn't even the problem. The national party is.
Don't take my word for it. Look it up. Prior to being elected as their U.S. Senate leader, Reid had one of the most moderate voting records of any Democrat in the senate. So did his predecessor Tom Daschle before he was elevated to a party leadership position. If Old Harry is replaced, expect their next party leader to follow the same mold.
Ultraleftism is the religious test for any high Democrat leadership position.
I assume your thesis then is that the Democrat party since 2000 has been moving fast and hard to the left..so the "leaders" have to follow the herd in order to stay in power.
That would seem to consign Dems to a near permanent minority status..given the conservative bent of the nation as a whole..
Obama said he wanted to "fundamentally transform America." He's working hard at it..but he may end up fundamentally transforming the Democrat party.
Bingo. The Dem party got overrun with the hard left long ago. I love to make this point to the Dems that I know that are, indeed, conservative democrats: It ain't your party anymore.
