And that is why I went to a Trac phone, cuz they can’t track a Trac.

I think you mean a "disposable" pay as you go phone you pay cash for such at Walmart....And that you pay cash for more minutes by buying minutes/cards at Walmart and such

It says I have no history, yet I have two Google accounts linked to phones. Lucky? Or did they scrub it when this article came out?

It can't really track you that accurately unless you have your GPS turned on.

The best it can do if you have it turned off is triangulate between cell towers. They can mostly just tell which powers your phone is pinging at any given moment.

Just keep your GPS turned off unless you are actually using it.

It happens if you have google maps app installed and tracking activated. I checked mine and my history went back two years.

Ahhhhh ... there's the secret.

Tracking must be "off" by default. I'm mildly surprised by that.

Another reason not to upgrade to a smart phone from my flip-phone.
Agree. Have had mine for 7 years and counting ...

I like my “antiquated” flip phone. I only turn it on when I want to call someone. Needless to say it costs me about $50 a year to operate.

Good then have them track the guy who is putting up the ISIS signs on his phone in front of the White House

If you don’t activate Google Maps on your iPhone, you get this message:”You have no location history from July 24, 2014 to August 22, 2014”

Proven wrong. I checked for my daughter and me and neither of us have any location logged. iPhone 5 and Galaxy 4 both synced to different gmail accounts.

Hell, I’ve been a FReeper for more than fifteen years; they probably installed a beacon when I had my hips replaced ;)

Yep. Some call them burner phones. Not to say they can’t be tracked at all, the govt can of course if they want to. But, they generally aren’t smart phones, so Google and such can’t track their every move. About as anonymous as you’re going to get with a cell phone these days.

"Good then have them track the guy who is putting up the ISIS signs on his phone in front of the White House"

Can't do that; that would be profiling a protected class member. Now, if you want Tea Party members tracked ...

And a new phone number. Doesn’t help if you keep the same phone number.

I use an android, but there’s a setting that I refuse to activate, so when I checked the Google Location History site, I got “You have no location history”

So, if this is fact, the missing information on Trayvon’s cellphone in all probability placed him inside homes that were robbed, and traced him along side homes, in the bushes, etc.
