Sharpton was directed to find out specific information including what the Brown family wanted from the White House, Politico reports.
The veteran activist, who is also leading Saturday’s march on Staten Island against police brutality in New York, even suggested Jarrett turn up the heat on Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, a Democrat, and appoint a special prosecutor to replace St. Louis prosecutor Bob McCulloch in the Brown case.

And the White House, as the crisis following Brown’s death seemed to flare out of control, worked extensively behind the scenes to maximize The Rev’s doing what he does, using him as both a source of information and a go-between. After huddling with Brown’s family and local community leaders, Sharpton connected directly with White House adviser and First Friend Valerie Jarrett, vacationing in her condo in the exclusive Oak Bluffs section of Martha’s Vineyard, not far from where President Obama and his family were staying. Obama was “horrified” by the images he was seeing on TV, Jarrett told Sharpton, and proceeded to pepper him with questions as she collected information for the president: How bad was the violence? Was it being fueled by outside groups—and could Sharpton do anything to talk them down? What did the Brown family want the White House to do?
It was a heady consultation for Sharpton, who spent years on the outside dreaming of a place in the pantheon of the civil rights leaders he revered as a teenage street preacher in Brooklyn, and it’s an irony lost on no one that his rise to White House adviser has come thanks to Barack Obama, whose restrained personal style couldn’t be any more different from Sharpton’s. If anything, the Ferguson crisis has underscored Sharpton’s role as the national black leader Obama leans on most, a remarkable personal and political transformation for a man once regarded with suspicion and disdain by many in his own party. It’s a status made all the more surprising given that Obama, America’s first black president, ran on a platform of moving beyond the country’s painful racial divisions while Sharpton is the man who once defined those divisions for many Americans.
Yup. And not even against the person they accuse of being guilty. They never went after Zimmerman, but didn’t the community association in Zimmerman’s neighborhood settle?
So they won’t go after the cop, but the City of Ferguson itself. And the folks stuck with the bill will be the taxpayers. Who are mostly Black.

It is what he did as as an FBI informant against a national icon, the Mafia. Rat.

Not necessarily. I don’t know about Ferguson, but local taxes tend to be property or (rarer) sales-based.
Even renters pay property taxes, just through their landlords. Yes, they may pay that rent from welfare, but my recollection is that welfare isn’t necessarily indexed to rent. At least not alone (COLAs include other factors) So raising taxes will still reduce the level of dicretionary (in this case welfare) income in the citizens’ pockets.
Yes the Homeowner’s association where Trayvon Martin was killed settled for 1.7 million, I think, just before the case went to trial. Not sure how much the family received...I’d bet not much.
You are right. Crump and Parks will be suing the police, the city of Ferguson, whoever they can squeeze the money out of. ..... and yes, the taxpayers will pay.
The Myth of Trigger-Happy White Cops

Moreover, the minds of protesters such as those in Cincinnati have, for many years, been fed a steady diet of rhetoric from “civil rights leaders” like Al Sharpton, who once stated that “the real mobsters” who prey upon the black community often “wear blue uniforms and carry nightsticks.”
Perhaps it is time that Americans were finally told the truth about the police, so they might avoid falling prey to the self-serving lies of the aforementioned, self-anointed guardians of “civil rights.”
The Bureau of Justice Statistics reports that in 1998, fully 62 percent of the 367 suspects killed by police officers nationwide were white, and 35 percent were black. In fact, police killings of white suspects have outnumbered those of black suspects in every single year since 1978.
Moreover, black officers are far likelier to shoot black suspects than are white officers. In 1998, for instance, the black-officer-kills-black-felon rate was 32 per 100,000 black officers – much higher than the white-officer-kills-black-felon rate of 14 per 100,000 white officers. While part of this disparity is due to the fact that black officers often tend to be assigned to black neighborhoods, clearly no case can be made from these numbers that white officers are in any way “trigger-happy” when confronting black suspects.
The intra-racial nature of most police shootings has existed for many years. Between 1976 and 1998, about 65 percent of homicides by police officers were against suspects of the same racial background. The rate at which white officers shoot black suspects has been declining steadily for two decades, while the rate at which they shoot white suspects has remained fairly constant over that same period. When a white officer kills a suspect today, that suspect is usually white (63 percent). When a black officer kills a suspect, that suspect is usually black (81 percent).
Overall, black officers are slightly likelier than white officers to kill a suspect in the line of duty. Indeed whites comprise 87 percent of all police nationwide, but account for only about 80 percent of homicides against criminal suspects, regardless of race. Meanwhile blacks, who constitute 11 percent of American police officers, are responsible for about 17 percent of homicides against criminal suspects.
Some readers may find this information shocking, particularly in light of the media’s and the civil rights establishment’s disproportionate focus on instances of white officers killing black suspects.
