I got all the carpet out of the house years ago and steadfastly refuse to ever have wall to wall carpet again. Very small throwrugs only, they can be taken outside to beat them and air out in the sun and replaced easily. I won’t even have a large area rug, just something that can be picked up easily with one hand. No one has ever invented a way to clean wall to wall carpet and any one who has ever removed it from a room knows that. It traps all kinds of dirt and if you have any kind of problem with allergies it is the last thing you need. It costs too much in too many ways to be able to walk around barefoot in the wintertime in your house. I can wear some bedroom slippers with a fuzzy lining instead. The only clean floor is a hard floor. The only way to clean a carpeted floor with a vacuum is to have one strong enough to suck the whole carpet into the vacuum cleaner and throw it away.
