Authorities release recordings of death that came amid extreme tension in nearby Ferguson over Michael Brown killing
Police is St. Louis Missouri have released video and audio recordings of the shooting on Tuesday of Kajieme Powell, a 25-year-old man described as "behaving erratically" and carrying a knife when officers arrived on the scene.
One video, taken by a witness with a phone camera, shows officers opening fire repeatedly within 15 seconds of arriving at the scene. 12 shots are fired in rapid succession.

Have you ever even held a pistol in your hand?
Seriously ... you seem not to know what you're talking about.
.
- If you are unarmed or overpowered - do you cry or cover your face? Or knee “Little Mikey” in the balls - and then quickly knee him in his nose (head/face will automatically drop as you also grab Mikey’s shirt up high at his shoulders and pull downward)
- CAUTION - nose may move backwards into the . . .
- It worked pretty well at Fort Benning
“Some situations, no, they shouldnt.”
I really don’t think you’re in any position to say what they should or shouldn’t do, since you don’t understand these universal principles that every policeman, soldier, and even most recreational shooters understand.
Suicide by cop.
Look at the video. The crazy man who wanted to die fell right at the feet of the police officer on passenger side ofnthe patrol vehicle.
If the taser had failed then the officer gets stabbed.
The job requirements of a police officer DO NOT INCLUDE THE REQUIREMENT THAT HE BE STABBED!
You don’t know a damn thing you are talking about.
Just because some crazy guy wants to die and forces the police’s hand and makes them shoot him does not mean the police failed or did something wrong.
The unzipped jacket makes it MORE likely the taser will fail....because if the dart hits the open jacket it will not make contact with the skin.
Tasers are not magic potions.....
>>>What about bean bag rounds fired from a shotgun? Could that have been an option here?<<<
I’m not sure that is something police routinely carry.
Many people don’t understand how quickly a man with a knife can close ground a kill a person with a gun, if the person with the gun does not fire.

Lots of police agencies are hiring....you should apply and work your way to the training unit and fix all this....it is easy man. Go for it.
haha! that’s great!
.
- ignorant untrained peeps out there today - drop them at 125th Street at 2:30am on a Saturday night -
- “You can ‘just’ shoot the ‘gun/knife’ out of his hand!”.
- “NO HEARTBEAT - NO SOUP FOR YOU!”
You should learn that knowledge.
either/or thinking
Lethal force is an either/or situation. Either you use it, or you don't. Full stop, end of discussion.
reduces a situation to merely an emotional level
False.
especially if the man has a mental disorder./
A man with a mental disorder can kill you just as dead as a man without a mental disorder. I bet you never thought of that.
Aiming for the legs is not lethal use of force
Shooting a pistol at someone is use of lethal force. Full stop, end of discussion. AIMING for the extremities is far more likely to result in a complete miss of the adversary than is aiming for center of mass. Anyone who has ever actually fired a handgun will know this.
Very unlikely to hit arms or legs. Officer Darren Wilson had no problem doing this. At least four shots to the arm.
Officer Wilson was aiming for center of mass. He pulled his shots left, probably due to injury. If he had followed your bad advice, he would have missed entirely ... and possibly killed or injured an innocent third party. Did you even think of that? Do you have any clue as to where bullets go when they miss their intended target?
These guys this close could (with 12 shots fired) easily have hit him in the legs multiple times,
Easily? Really? And your expertise to judge that is what, exactly?
9 times out of 10 cops don’t need to shoot and don’t. Rational perps/suspects know the gig is up when a cop draws his gun and complies. Its the ones who don’t comply that end up getting shot.
One of my neighbors is a former Detroit cop. He says he drew his gun several times in his 11 years with the force but never fired it aside from at the range.
This was a murder. You know that from the last two shots.
You don’t find many Scholastics these days.
Because it is a dumb-a$$ed qurestion...NEXT!
You get a lot of people trying to pass off sophistry as scholasticism ...
Whatever.....you don’t know jack. Go to the force science institute website or look up their scientific studies videos online. You may actually learn something about what you seeing.
Fair point.
Perhaps a bean-bag shotgun should be in every supervisor's patrol car trunk, for situations just like this one. Remember the recent incident with the old man holding a knife in the nursing home? The old man was gunned down. One bean bag round would have ended that incident relatively peacefully.
I often wonder how police in Britain handle such situations.
Many people dont understand how quickly a man with a knife can close ground a kill a person with a gun
Yes. The Tueller Rule. That cannot be overlooked.

- great video - if you cannot kill you should not think you can protect yourself or others with a firearm
- - play it again Mikey! : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9igSoJHEdUo
