I like the “hoped to pursue higher education”. I have seen several reports that the reporters could not find and actual college he had applied to, and then someone reported that it was a trade school.
But the meme is now that he was going to college in a couple of weeks.
I thought I heard that he had just received his diploma or GED from summer school. Whether or not he was going to college is irrelevant. He wasn’t headed down the path to college when he strong armed the store clerk and stole the cigars. He definitely wasn’t thinking about college when he attacked the officer in his car. Mr Brown might still be alive if he focused on attending college instead of attending prison.
I went to a small private college in upstate NY. It was relatively expensive for the time. There was a healthy percentage of blacks who went there completely for free. (grants, etc.)
I am taking an art history class and two of the area's finest were in the class. Full out Queen Latifah with Mr. T starter kit jewelery.
They rarely showed up to class.
One day, they show up and the instructor is going through some slides and Sister Soldjah #1 raises her hand and asks, "Dat Mesopotamia?"
We had been done with Mesopotamia for, like, a month. She would not know cuz she hadn't been there.
Probably passed the course too.
Enrolled in school can mean a lot of different things to different people.
