Climate-Cooling Policies threaten Food Supplies
americanthinker.com ^ | 8/20/2014 | Viv Forbes

A warmer, wetter climate with more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere would undoubtedly produce more plant growth and more food.

However climate-cooling policies that claim to prevent global warming by throttling the use of carbon fuels will definitely reduce food supply and increase food prices.

The promotion of ethanol for motor fuel is anti-food. This “food for fuel” program has absorbed significant quantities of corn, soy beans, sugar and palm oils. Consequently prices for ethanol crops are higher than they would otherwise be, encouraging farmers to convert land currently devoted to grazing animals and other food crops to growing more profitable crops for ethanol.

DENIER!!!! How can this person be so cruel as to imply that warmer, wetter weather is a good thing? Well, probably because she is right on the money? The glow-bull discombobulation crowd/supporters are only about the money. If they truly think we'll be better off colder, then I'm surprised. I guess there are some that buy it but it ain't to hard to figure out that there's nobody growing crops in Antarctica. Hmmm. Could that be because there no growing season there? Insanity definition applicable.

This touches on what I have wondered about.

Even if, for sake of argument, we say that global warming is real, why do we say that all effects of it are bad?

For example, the American midwest is a very productive agricultural region. But they have severe winters and a relatively short growing season. Wouldn’t a touch of global warming give them a longer growing season, and make their agriculture even more productive?

I’ve mentioned this to some global warming believers, and get blank stares. I get the impression that some of these liberals are spoon fed certain things, and just can’t think for themselves when confronted with a concept such as I just mentioned.

As Roseanne Roseannadanna used to say on SNL...”it’s always something...”.

Learned in college that earth’s vegetation is not reaching it’s photosynthesis potential because there is not enough carbon dioxide.

“As the carbon dioxide concentration increases so does the rate of photosynthesis. There is no photosynthesis at very low levels of carbon dioxide and at high levels the rate reaches a plateau.”

Of course it is about the money. Like anti-aging creams or any other fear-mongering snake oil product.

Wrinkles are natural. LOL

Pretty weird how these clowns have forgotten (or never comprehended) simple science from back when they were mere children. Now they’re merely useful(useless) didiots.

More plant growth and increased food supplies means the population on the planet increases. Progressives don’t want that.

And do all these climate-change Henny Pennies know what the ideal temperature of the earth should be? How was that ideal temperature determined? Based on what? And if we achieve temperature nirvana, how do we know that the climate won’t change for other reasons?

I recently did panel discussion with some people about climate change. I couldn’t even get to the point that I doubt the data before one person on the panel was saying “real climate scientists ALL agree...” Sigh. When the Soviet Union fell apart, all the temp monitoring locations in Siberia were no longer maintained. All the temp data was never adjusted for losing those stations. So, IMHO, the data are suspect. Yet, one guy on the panel just *knew* climate change is real and we’ve got to do SOMETHING NOW!

It is a major uphill battle to convince the sheep that climate change is a bunch of BS designed to scare them and accept increasing government intervention in their daily lives.

More food supplies means less control over any and all populations in general. That's what they fear.

Fewer guilt cards to play on the useful idiots.

More disposable income for the middle class which might mean providing employment opportunities for the lower classes, and that might mean less dependents on gub'mint handouts, etc.

Air pollution is a bad thing, and it might have as much as little if any affect on weather in the area it’s produced such as cities, industrial areas or areas directly down wind of cities and industrial areas. What is bad about air pollution is the effect it has on our health, especially our lungs. If you live in any of these areas, the last thing you want to do is exercise to a point where your lungs are laboring. You could just as well be a smoker. Changing climate is a cyclical thing, brought on by solar activity on the Sun, not man-caused use of internal combustion machines.

Lucky for us the air quality in the U.S. has improved by huge leaps over recent years.

You can’t be serious. The global warming, or climate change, or climate disruption crowd are all for saving poor people who live on the coast from having their beachfront property swallowed up by rising sea levels. Oh, and the women and children and minorities.

LOL! I guess the clowns are unaware of the now non-existent land bridge in the Aleutians that brought what became American Indians here. That bridge is now under water because of.............glow-bull discombobulation eons ago. Way before Chrysler invented the Hemi.

“Lucky for us the air quality in the U.S. has improved by huge leaps over recent years”

Yes. We have exported our pollution to China and India, and the jobs that come with it.

We have more time on our hands now so we can fingerpaint or do some other worth while artistically creative activity as long as it doesn’t cost any money...

Heavy industry production jobs were in a large part unskilled, or low skilled jobs that could be done by the unambitious represented by unions that drove wages above realistic levels for unskilled and low skilled jobs. Combine environmental regulations that at first were intended to reign in unnecessary flagrant polluting and eventually became the tool of politicians to outlaw industry with big business complicit to move manufacturing to third and old world nations where slave labor is available and environmental regulations do not exist then presto! a population on the dole dependent on the elected to meet living expenses and fingerpainting supplies. Of course, the skilled labor jobs, like welders, machinists and mechanics went away too. And so did the engineering, drafting and management jobs.

A nation of lowered mediocrity.

At least we have our flat screens, beer and queers&thugs NFL.

Texas could use some cooler weather. There were more than 100 days of 100+ temperatures last summer. Tomatoes won’t produce when temperatures rise above 90. Want to pay my A/C bill? Higher temps mean more evaporation from livestock tanks so ranchers have to sell off their stock. Crops can’t be irrigated. People’s water supply is gone which affects not just drinking water but general cleaning and flushing the toilet. With little or no water, business close, house foundations crack, trees fall causing damage, dry and dead brush is a wildfire waiting to happen.

The left WANTS lower food production. The left wants to see billions of us die. Starvation works as well as anything.
