You are spot-on correct. I bring up the fact that we are 110th from the top merely to counter the propaganda “factoid” that the USA is in the top 4 countries for murder rate. It simply is not true.
If we dropped Flint, Detroit, Chicago and any other hot spot there may be, we probably would be tenth from the bottom, though I did not do the math, hence “probably”.
Outside the known trouble areas Americans are pretty safe. Wasn’t it Marion Berry, Mayor of DC, who said DC is a safe city if you discount all the murders? LOL
BTW the link I sent has some interesting charts on gun ownership vs murder rate.
Thank you for the thoughtful reply, Cen-Tejas!
..........in all candor, I was challenged by your comment to go back and check the statistics on the county I “operate” in which is Burnet. The county I “live” in is Travis, but by only 68 feet and I go there (into Austin) as little as possible (about once per month, maybe).
Anyway, on city.data, there is a chart for the various major crime categories that goes all the way back to 2000 by year. There are nothing but zeros in every year for murders all the way back to 2,000. I figured there might be 2 or 3 but I KNEW not very many.
So, “freeping” DOES educate hunh?!
Hard to imagine WHY ANY sane person would live in Flint. Hard to get your mind around zero where dead I live and 800 dead bodies in Flint! And, then everybody just goes on about their business! Amazing!
