Obviously, poor underage Lone Star ticks have been crossing out of the Lone Star State to look for a better life elsewhere. We should welcome them. They are the future. Arugula for all!

When I was a kid here in the Hill Country (70s) we had ticks in abundance, spread by deer. They brushed through cedars and elms, vectoring them. We picked them up by brushing through the brush.

Haven’t heard of a tick since 1985 or so, the fire ants took them down. And we used to have the fat female ticks, gorged with blood, to pull off our dogs.

We had the Lone Star ticks when I was a kid. I remember using a needle, heat the point and stick it into the backs. They would back out faster than you can imagine.
