We had peaceful protests over a shooting here in Santa Rosa. A tragic thing, with more than one side to it (kid was shot for carrying with an airsoft gun in EXCACTLY the same fields we used to shoot BB guns in, that could have been me 35 years ago).

At several of the protests folks obviously from out of town tried to start a riot. Fortunately the community leaders of the protest basically let them know that THEY were going to be the victims of violence if they kept it up. The provocateurs were from Oakland I later found out (this has been an event that cut across all race and class lines around here IMO)
