Obviously you are the exception to the rule.
” Three names again!”
Barack Hussein 0bama
Bingo!
” The Marine was just her meal ticket. A common theme among enlisted men of all branches of service.”
Officers, too, to a lesser extent only because of their numbers.
I wasn't much for barracks life. back in the mid 70s the Base Commander order all barracks dwellers they had to have their rooms inspection ready every week day from 7am to 5pm. The problem was I/we were on Missile Combat Crew and thus had whole days off during the week and were not allowed to reside in our rooms because they might inspect. I moved off base on my own dime and was able to get a part-time job to pay for both it and a new car.
I married an enlisted woman but did not do so until I went in to the Reserves so I could finish my degree and earn my commission. This September we will have been together (anniversary of our meeting) for 36 years.
We both knew people who married just to get out of the barracks and none of those marriages lasted even five years.
