Wow, there is virtually nothing between Patton and the Seine.

I'm beginning to understand why the Germans did not make a stand at Paris. They didn't have an army with which to resist Third Army.

It's extremely gratifying that one of the most beautiful cities in the world was not mauled by the fighting.

I wonder if those Germans besieged in Brest have any idea how many hundred miles they are behind the Allied lines?

I'm always interested in the question of what information is known, by whom, in these situations. I first realized this was an important point when I learned that the War of 1812 was already over when we won the Battle of New Orleans.
