Before you answer your own question maybe you can visualize how steady your aim might be at a rattler if you had just been punched in your good eye and your eye socket broken? All those “center mass “discussions go out the window and back to the classroom when you’re hurt and your eyes water up. I said before the cop did a great job stopping the dumbass. To a casual observer those six shots probably sounded like one noise. most likely less that two seconds total.
And by the way. remember that by all accounts Sow Belly was running and during those two seconds his Lard Buttness might have been turned slightly sideways to the cop. There’s nothing about the autopsy results so far revealed to indicate the shots were exactly from the front of the Target.
In a former life it was my job to smack the krap out of lard butts like this one. I’ve had a bird’s eye view of hundreds of lead butz like this waddling toward me at what they thot was full steam. And when they waddle they roll side-to-side, maybe 10 degrees or so, just to keep their own feet under themselves. It ain’t a pretty sight and it makes them hard to miss with a well placed forearm. I always thot I had a good day if I sent someone to a dentist for sticking his nose in my business.
So I would enjoy seeing the stick test where they put arrows into the bullet paths to see what the bullet approach angles were? That tells a lot more than just the points of impact. Although I’m gonna say that shot in the eyeball would have been just as fatal as the hit to the baby’s soft spot. And both are damm good shooting.
Thanks, Cherokee1.
I didn’t know that the officer’s injuries were that bad - all we peons heard was he had a punched or ‘swollen’ face from a struggle. I can’t imagine how much pain he was in.
You probably get that I wasn’t thinking Wilson was a bad shot in a ‘bad’ way, but in a good way i.e., ‘trying not to kill this idiot kid, why doesn’t he stop’ way. I guess I was exploring whether to quietly pin the hero ribbon on Wilson that he did try to discourage Brown’s charge, before he had to drop him. But you guys are all shooting me down on this itch, so I’ll keep that thought to myself as events found in Roy Rogers movies, and just be satisfied that Wilson thankfully lived to tell the tale. If he’d gotten punched again in a busted eyesocket...well... I’m very, very glad he’s alive.
I take no chances and use snakeshot on rattlers. Close works, and a good thing too, because those suckers do get my adrenaline pumping - and fast! There is no way I’d be able to take out a snake’s head with a single slug - they move wayyy too fast! After reading your post and some other posts, I realize now that people can be just as fast and just as hard to hit.
Thanks very much for the reply. And, thanks, for doing what you do, or did, or still do lol. Take care!!
