My thoughts exactly.
I have been calling for a “Re-declaration of Independence”, the “red” regions of the territory once known as “the United States of America” separating from the “blue” regions.
Since the “red” portion is very nearly contiguous, that would leave a whole lot of little “blue” islands scattered all across the territory. Each of these “blue” districts could become a republic in and of itself, and they could set up whatever cockamamie rules to govern themselves they wanted. The much larger “red” district could then resume the rule of law under the provisions of the existing Constitution of the United States of America, with certain exceptions, such as removal of the 16th, 17th, 18th and 20th Amendments altogether, and adding one new one, that the Federal government must provide a balanced budget and a pathway to payoff of the existing national debt, until it is fully cancelled.
And oh, yeah, there would be a STRICTLY enforced border drawn between the “red” district and all the little “blue” districts. Any troublemaker from a “blue” district that comes in attempting to agitate in the “red” district would be immediately and promptly deported to the “blue” district from whence he (or she) came. The second time, deported to Antarctica.
