Governor Rick Perry refused to fund Lehmbergs office.
So on Friday Democrats decided to make a stand for drunk drivers everywhere and indict Governor Rick Perry.
On Saturday Governor Rick Perry held a press conference. Rick stands by his decision.
Heres what the governor had to say about the indictment.
Heres what I think is really important for the people to understand, not just Texans but this country. And, that is, we have seen an office in the form of the Travis County District Attorneys office. The lead, legal individual for criminal affairs in this county and overseeing public officials who conducted themselves in an incredibly inappropriate way. Stopped for a DWI with a blood-alcohol level almost three times the legal limit. An individual who when booked in had to be restrained. Was abusive to law enforcement. Was kicking the door. I think Americans and Texans who have seen this agree with me. That that is not an individual who is heading up an office that we can afford to fund. Now the people of Travis County may decide that that is the type of individual that they want in that office. But as the governor of the State of Texas I made that decision and I said no. And given that information and given that choice again, that is exactly what I would do.
Go, Rick Perry!

Your pro-ILLEGAL alien, liberal hero has done nothing other than put troops there to observe, a $12 million a month stunt that was intended to fool the gullible into believing he actually gives a damn. That cannot erase his long history of being pro-ILLEGAL alien.
lol! Typical behavior of a drunkard.
The campaign to “Keep Austin Weird” has become a victim of its own success.
She’s beyond Austin-style weird, she’s more demented if not demonic.
Somebody with that high a BAC, is likely an alcoholic.
As I said, there are legal issues.
At least HE is doing something!
If Lehmberg had stepped down as she was required by law to do, Perry would have been in the position to appoint her replacement. It has been eons since there was a Republican Travis county DA and that office investigates political corruption of State officials.
The Dihm’s do not want to face a fraction of the oversight they have placed on Republicans.
I agree it is a fairly weak gesture, but that is due to legality’s.
The Bush’s are behind this. Look at the background of McCrum and the judge who appointed him.
This just proves the point that dems will do anything to destroy a Republican, but Republicans will never be as vicious to these scumbags!
Twin Liquor is near the State Capitol. They have record of her buying twenty some odd gallons of vodka just from that one location.
This should make Perry even more ok with the true Americans.
Anybody know where the probable cause is for the GJ to have indicted him?
You don’t have to have that in Travis County. Remember Tom DeLay? Same bunch. Problem is the Repubs made Tom resign Congress so they are trying the same ##ap with Perry. Perry will not resign believe me.
Regardless of your politics, Perry did the right thing.
Rosemary “Texas’ Most Notorious Drunk” Lehmberg should resign as she is an embarrasement to Texas.
That maybe true but the public fingerprints lead back to the progressives in Austin. It’s clear someone way up there wanted this done for political favor. No one should deny that. Would we ever know who made that request. I hope Perry fights back like Scot Walker did with the progressives.
This has national DNC Written all over it. The punk POTUS just couldn't stand Perry gaining political capital by improving surveillance at the border to enforce immigration laws.
When all the facts come out, the blow back on the dims face will be significant.
Exactly, I'd bet a pretty good percentage of people would pass out with a .23 blood alcohol level.
With tacit approval from the RNC.
