SADDLE BROOK, NJ Robert Lintner, 65, did not have a good day.
It all began when his wife stabbed him in the neck during an argument in the morning. Things took a turn for the worse when police, summoned to Mr. Litners home, discovered the mans firearm and ammunition collection.
Mr. Litner owned almost 200 guns in five vaults, had tens of thousands of rounds of ammunition in the home, and around 300 pounds of black powder. Because he did not consent to the search, cops used a jaws-of-life from the local fire department to open the safes, which are worth thousands of dollars in their own right.
Multiple law enforcement agencies were called to the scene to help confiscate the collection, and Mr. Lintner was charged with causing or risking widespread injury or damage for possessing more than 30 pounds of black powder. He pleaded not guilty.
Mr. Lintners attorney contends that his client possessed gunpowder because he teaches classes that utilize flintlock firearms for the state Division of Fish and Wildlife. It remains to be seen if Mr. Lintner will face additional charges.
Mr. Lintners wife, Eileen Lintner, who was charged with illegal possession of a weapon and second-degree aggravated assault, pleaded guilty to the charges.
Did his wife consent to the search? If his wife told the cops there were guns in the house and consented to the search, he doesn't have a case.
If there is domestic violence taking place in a house, the cops are required by law to remove firearms in that home. It doesn't matter which party committed the violence or which party "owns" the firearms (and in a marriage, they're owned by both parties, like everything else in the house).
The lesson here is if you own a lot of nice guns, don't marry women who will stab you in the neck. And if you do, try to keep the cops out of it.
Good going LEOs...
If you're not doing anything illegal, you have no need to worry about the cops.

Im trying to figure out why the cops needed to search the house.
Because Michael Brown is a thug.
Gee, you cop haters just don't get it.
</even more sarcasm>
