Yes but Brown knew he was a suspect at the time and this likely caused him to act in an aggressive manner towards the policeman.

Do we know that, or are libs just saying that? The robbery was reported to police just a few minutes before the altercation with patrol officer, so it seems quite possible that the officer would have known about it.

Well, maybe not.

.The confusion arose when a police chief during a press conference was "repeatedly" asked(?) "you just said that..." and the response usually was, "No. what I said was..." obviously trying to trip up the Chief.

I was watching the live telecast and as I recall the first answer to the question, "Did the officer know that there had just been a robbery? was "I don't know." Nobody knew. But the later established fact is that the robbery was broadcast to all police vehicles, and the officer was in his patrol car at the time. That suggests that yes, it is most probable that the officer in fact had heard the description of the robbery perp.

Of course at the time of the press conference exchange, no precise review of what happened when had been released. Nor has the result of the Officer's lengthy interviews post-incident. Those may still not be yet available.
