Most states have specific laws that apply to police officers in those situations. I think you should learn the law and history behind it before you whine and bitch about it on FR. I know what the law says concerning citizens using deadly force. I have a CCL.
I'm pointing out the fact that if the same circumstances happened to me in my house - and I shot the perp on my front lawn while he was unarmed and not in my house or posing an immediate threat to me or mine - that I would be arrested and charged with manslaughter at minimum or murder - depending on the ambitions of the state prosecutor.

I’ll give you the point of state prosecutor and that may apply in your state. In my state it the local prosecutor.

I know what the law says concerning citizens using deadly force. Yes, but the 'shooter' wasn't a citizen, he was a police officer who had been assaulted.
