Well that's anecdotal evidence at best. But if we're going to go there I can say that when I was younger I would mouth off to cops and was rude and I was given the same treatment back. When I got older I smartened up and learned if you treat them nicely, usually, not always, but usually, they will do the same to you.

I am saying that cops are no longer friends of a free republic. This is not at all the same thing as “morphing” on issues of principle. It’s the damned cops who have changed, not a lot of us.
