Unfortunately, the suburbs themselves are being ruined by job losses coupled with high taxes. Here in NJ, Trenton has run out of money to re-distribute to the cities, and everything is deteriorating. When Newark NJ laid off 160+ cops a few years ago at a time of record shootings, the writing was on the wall: There was no state aid left to save those jobs.
Depressing to watch; “For Sale” signs in front of many homes, and many businesses shuttered up.
