Step 1: Get the politicians out of the running-the-war business and let the generals run the war. In the long run, their plan will save more lives than whatever it is the politicians think best keeps them in office wins the war.
Step 2: See Step 1.
What should we do? Fight it like the all-out war it is!
One small problem with the plan: the folks the Iranians are supplying in Syria and Lebanon are our de facto allies against ISIL. Unless we’re going to switch sides in Syria and start resupplying the Ba’athist government ourselves, preventing Iranian resupply is weakening the fight on ISIL’s western front. The Free Syrian Army has always been an inside-the-beltway delusion. The only effective fighting forces in Syria since the civil war there began have been the government, the Al Nursra Front (Al Qaeda) and ISIL. Al Nursra is now a spent force, most of its fighters having defected to ISIL.
Numbers are too low ... and air support is virtually useless with these numbers. Minimum 50,000 ground. Minimum 100 Apache. Minimum 10 Radar aircraft. Minimum 100 fighter jets. Minimum 6 refuel aircraft. Then there is the problem of landing sites and supply. 300,000 or more personnel.
The only way to defeat the ISIL is to kill every one of them by whatever means we have at our disposal. Find a large concentration of them and carpet bomb it. Stop playing nice and following “rules of war.”
Kill every last son of Mad Mo that you find and don’t take prisoners.
When you can’t find any more, you are close to achieving the goal.
The politicians, media and assorted morons of America have rendered this country mostly incapable of winning anything.
The Current FReepathon Pays For The Current Quarter's Expenses?
No. At least, Valerie Jarrett does not. And she is calling the shots. Not the empty suit she is controlling.
America still has core values? Who knew?
Certainly not "both parties in Congress".
I just ran across this and have started watching. Don’t know if it’s any good but looks interesting.

Go nuclear and don’t look back. Four or five well-placed nukes in the ISIL-controlled areas of Iraq would break the culture of Radical Islam by proving that Allah cannot protect them from the weapons we control. It would cause an ideological breakdown that would bring down the entire global movement from within. This would also be the most humane solution for the poor souls who face a grim future in the path of ISIL.
Kill ISIL...problem solved.
Don’t waste your time trying to fight IS on the battlefield. For all intents and purposes, they have unlimited bodies to throw into the fray and they are not sensitive to casualties. They just need to be contained.
We need to make war on their logistics. We need to stop the flow of the money and the supply of weapons, ammunition, fuel, etc. The people funding and supplying them need to die. Don’t arrest them. Find them, kill them, and destroy their assets.
