A large police SWAT team showed up to a peaceful demonstration in Ferguson, Missouri and the scene is getting increasingly tense, reports Huffington Post's Ryan J. Reilly, who is currently on the ground.
Soon after the team of more than 70 officers came on the scene, they told protesters they needed to leave the area and that "this [was] not open for discussion," Reilly tweeted. MSNBC reporter Trymain Lee tweeted that police told the crowd, "Go home, return to your vehicles. The protesters responded, "Mike can't go home!"
"Your right to assembly is not being denied," the police said later over a loudspeaker.

You haven’t been paying attention, have you?
This has been developing for years.
These lyrics just came to me and seem appropriate:
There’s battle lines being drawn.
Nobody’s right if everybody’s wrong ...
And believe me, there's going to be a LOT more idle hands the way things are going today.
I’d love to see G.I. Joe with the truck-mounted machine gun POINTED AT MS-13 THUGS TRYING TO COME ACROSS OUR SOUTHERN BORDER INSTEAD OF PEACEFUL PROTESTORS!!!!
Coming to a neighborhood near you!
Chanting “Hands up, don’t shoot!”
Very appropriate.
Heck that’s the second 60s protest song I’ve referenced today, I earlier referenced “The Eve of Destruction.”
The Times they are a-changin’....back.
I’m hearing choppers in the area now.
Also, a kid just shouted to the cops that ‘anonymous’ has posted all their personal info including family names and addresses. Kid said if we wanted to make theis ugly, we could, but we’re not.
The QuickTrip owner said the building was gutted ... So there’s nothing left to loot. Tonight just might be fight night.
I know the community leaders were concerned about the massive presence of demonstrators and agitators from surrounding states.
I’m on the side of the police. It is a hard, thankless job. Especially tonight.
Written by the legendary P. F. Sloan, whose songbook I did at the Canteen several years ago.
Live stream just showed a chopper spotlighting the crowd.
Assuming those ‘citizens’ are all unarmed is a foolish move.
Police telling crowd they “may continue to peacefully assemble 25 feet away” from their vehicles.
Do you have a link? The other one stopped working.
The Los Angeles Police Department has been heavily militarized for at least two decades. We have battering rams and helicopters flying 24 hours a day.
It’s not surprising. All police recruit heavily from returning military men. At times like this, their maneuvers are straight from military tactics.
You saw the militarization during the capture of the Boston Marathon bombers.
I think it’s natural. Why insist that they are only allowed to use sub-par gear?
Protesters have moved back. Protester asking “How many of you pigs have bodies on ya?”
Be nice to see that force on our border.
But I have to say, you riot and burn down the cities and businesses you are asking for this.
You cannot burn buildings and destroy property because you get angry about the police. The officer involved will have the court system to deal with for years. Idiotic people brainwashed democrats, can’t get your way, hate the government but make certain you are there in line for those welfare benefits from those of us who work everyday. Burn and riot, the democratic way.
Yeah, that's gonna help. /s
Yeah, but not sure I’m allowed to post it. Delete if not.
