Already starting again tonight, it seems. Let's use this thread for Live updates:
That’s the legend, but it is a lie. The police are out in force because of looters/mayhem. It has got nothing to do with what happened on Saturday.
“Which is a bigger threat to liberty: the thugs with uniforms and badges, or the thugs with baggy pants?”
That depends on if the day begins with a sniper atop an MRWAP with a tripod mounted automatic rifle, in plain sight, pointed very visibly at your head, doesn’t it, during a PEACEFUL protest??
There were activists in the later crowd wanting a fight, and the cops obviously wanted one, as well. Remember, this was STL County Police, not Ferguson, tonight.
The directed attacks on the media, most starkly represented by attacking a very clearly mark Al Jazeera crew, during a live shoot with full kleeg lights, is beyond the pale.
They were Specifically TARGETING the media, in an area with no curfew, and no marshal law. That simply can’t be defended in America, no matter what you think of that particular media outlet.
Statement from Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D)
(why was this released through Talking Points Memo???)
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D) has just released a statement on the escalating events in Ferguson. Statement after the jump ...

Statement from Governor Nixon on events in Ferguson
Jefferson City, MO — Gov. Jay Nixon tonight issued the following statement on events in Ferguson, Missouri:
The worsening situation in Ferguson is deeply troubling, and does not represent who we are as Missourians or as Americans. While we all respect the solemn responsibility of our law enforcement officers to protect the public, we must also safeguard the rights of Missourians to peaceably assemble and the rights of the press to report on matters of public concern.
I have been closely monitoring the situation and will continue to be in communication with local leaders, and I will be in north St. Louis County tomorrow. As Governor, I am committed to ensuring the pain of last weekends tragedy does not continue to be compounded by this ongoing crisis. Once again, I ask that members of the community demonstrate patience and calm while the investigation continues, and I urge law enforcement agencies to keep the peace and respect the rights of residents and the press during this difficult time.

I’ve been keeping current via Fox all evening.
‘According to an alert from the St. Louis Division of the FBI the National Chief of Staff of the New Black Panther Party is in Ferguson. Chawn Kweli and other members of the NBPP are in town to respond to the shooting of Michael Brown.
This is part of a Facebook status posted by Kweli , This is the hour all the greats promised. If you die, die like a warrior. Ill see you on the ground.

If the thugs got away with intimidating the police in this city, it would inspire them to riot, loot and burn across the nation at the least instance of being ‘dissed’.
Every city police department needs to show these thugs that this is not going to work.
Call in the National Guard? These thugs could loot and burn down a city (especially smaller, remote cities) before the National Guard showed up.
“Every city police department needs to show these thugs that this is not going to work.”
In this instance, it has failed, miserably...
You don’t come at a people already PO’d over your actions, right or wrong, with a wall of guns to intimidate. Bundy Ranch should remind you of how that could end.
They could have made a large, uniformed presence VERY visible, without throwing militarized police in their faces. They could have been in reserve, and arrived in a minute.
The unprofessionalism shown tonight was SHOCKING.
What cop thinks that firing tear gas at reporters is a good thing? And it didn’t happen just once, but NUMEROUS times. And they did it last night, as well.
At the Bundy ranch BLM showed up and pushed people to the ground, sicced dogs on people, and electrocuted others with tazers. These people were protesting verbally.
In St. Louis mobs are looting.
There is no equivalency.
A city police force showing a violent mob of thugs that they are out-manned and out-gunned is the best way to nip this sort of thing in the bud.
They know they are out-manned and out-gunned. They’ll give it up..Black Panthers or no.
As I said, before the Guard showed up, they could loot and burn down half the city.
It’s time to show these ignorant thugs who elected bro Obama this violence is not going to work.
As for the news people, maybe they should have kept their nose out of it and let the police do their jobs.
The looting was two nights ago.
What happened tonight was, IMO, unconstitutional.
There was no martial law, no curfew, and no excuse whatsoever to specifically target and roll up the media, to prevent them from reporting what was happening.
The protestors may have deserved it, but the blatant over-reach was in NO WAY justified. This is still America, isn’t it?
You need to get out more (find some source other than Fox News). Refer to comment #326
It seems that the police are the "violent mob of thugs". Once again, you obviously don't know what's transpiring down there and I wouldn't expect you to being glued to cable television.

You and a few others sound like you are getting your news and views from CNN or some other Obama lapdog source.
gots to get me a big ass flat screen tv.
I was referring to videos of heavily armored police moving on nonviolent protesters. The looters/etc seem largely left alone. Curious choice of targets.
I hope the truth comes out but either way by the time the media prints and spins, will whatever the truth is even matter?

I read her account yesterday. Whatever went on is being used for different agendas, IMHO. Sad. I still would have to rely on the Police if some criminal decides to attack me. If things get so bad the Police either: won’t come anymore and we are on our own, or, we will be observed by Govt. with someone from Barry’s personal army on every street corner that is armed with more than any American.
I don’t like either scenario. Criminals took over the first night and more came streaming in. As usual, “the One” had a comment for this and the race hustlers moving in for their piece. Lost in this will be the Truth of what happened.
And then we have this this morning:
FERGUSON Mo. (Reuters) Ferguson, Missouri, Police Chief Thomas Jackson said on Wednesday the officer involved in the shooting of a black, unarmed teenager last weekend had been injured during the incident and was treated in the hospital for swelling on the side of his face.
Awww — all that struggling for the gun and all he had was swelling on the side of his face??? and no bruises??? and no scratches??? and no black eye??? no sprained wrist???
Let me guess — the swelling was on the LEFT side of the face — the same side as his left arm that he had out the window holding the by the neck.
Thanks Chief — what took you so long if he went to the hospital the same day???
Reports from the St Louis Post Dispatch.
A fifth night of unrest in Ferguson
