The TEApublicans need to start beating the legislators into submission on following the platform, either that or primary them.

Right. I'll believe that when I see it.
Until then my points stand, and indeed your claim of the need to beat the legislators into following the platform or primary them is de facto proof of the above: that the plank means nothing.

No, you don't understand, it it not meaningless.

The plank means something to the Republican voters who crafted it because that's what they believe. Other voters who read the platform may vote Republican because of what is stated there. It is the Republican brand.

Most Elected Republicans do share the belief system with their constituents, and if they don't they will be found out by TEApartiers, exposed, and replaced.

Here's a question for you Shark:

Republican platforms (every state has a different one) do they somehow go against your standards?
