Iraqs parliament just chose a new President who refused to rename Prime Minister Nouri Kamal al-Maliki to a third term. Maliki declared the move unconstitutional and his own State of Law Party pulled support from him. Now his forces are seizing government buildings in Iraq, have closed the airport, and are surrounding the Green Zone.

CNN attempted to call the White House for comment but after a few rings they got a recorded message. "Hi, We're not home right now, we are taking our bi-monthly luxury vacation, this one to lovely and white Martha's Vineyard where there are no illegal aliens. If this call is important enough just leave a message after the beep and I'll get back to you in a few weeks... one more Mojito, Garson!"

Yeah, it would be great to have that maniac Saddam back in power along with his two sociopath sons. Saddam invaded Kuwait and Iran, used WMD twice (against the Kurds and Iran), funded the suicide bombers against Israel, and had lots of money to fund terrorist. Iraq was designated as a state sponsor of terrorism and harbored such terrorists as Abu Nidal.
We were maintaining no-fly zones to protect the Kurds and the Shi'a. I have no doubt that Saddam would have eventually developed nuclear weapons. Israel took out the Osirak nuclear plant in 1981. And anyone who has witnessed the burning oil wells in Kuwait after the Gulf War understands we were dealing with a madman.

Same party too. It takes a democrat to lose a war that’s already been won.

I, sadly, must agree with that sentiment and have for quite sometime.
Too much tribalism and they really don’t have a clue to take care of themselves. I understand that since their loyalty has been “bought” thru the years from various dictators for food, security, etc.
Things that make ya go hmmmm.

We should have taken the hint back in 73, and undertook a “Manhattan Project”-like effort to gain energy independence and extract ourselves from that god-forsaken region.
