Mainstream conservatives ran the table in Senate Republican primaries as tea party upstarts lost all six challenges to GOP incumbents.
The results left the establishment upbeat about midterm elections, and the insurgent movement beaten but unbowed.

Thus the failure to take the nominations on these races. As upstarts in politics, too many want to throw their hat in the ring. While this is a good sign, it leads to defeat.
What we need to do is swallow our own pride and get behind ONE candidate, put all our resources behind that candidate and push him (her) to win. When we see these incumbents garner less than 50% of the votes, they are beatable.
Quit looking for the perfect candidate (me), and support someone who supports 80% of our views. Use ALL the money available to back this person and get him (her) the most exposure possible.
The low information voter will vote for the name they know. Most people do not want to rock the boat. They are afraid of change. They are comfortable with the incumbent and will vote as the party tells them to. They are easily scared when the incumbent makes allegations, and the challenger cannot repudiate them effectively. Let's give them the resources to be able to effectively fight and expose these attacks for what they are.
Expose the missteps of the opposition , and demonstrate them with facts.
It's like a twig, alone it is easily broken, but bundle a handful together and they may be bent, but never broken.
The GOPe used its ‘money bomb’ power and sympathetic free media like some radio talk shows, Fox News programs, website reporters and writers that are commonly considered “conservative” at Breitbart, The Washington Times and other websites etc. to win.
They also had sympathetic posters here and there on places like FR, some of them probably paid to help the cause as well.
“And I hope Cochran loses in Miss.”
AGREED!!!!
I think we should be encourage, but of course learn some things too.
Like having several different challengers does not help.
I understand you might not be able to prevent it, but we should, in general, try and get behind one person early.
And yes I mean that for 2016 too, esp. if we don’t want the next RINO choice of Christie/Bush, etc.
I gotta say if 2016 comes down to Bush v. Clinton I will be really ticked off, aside from any merits or failings of Hillary and/or Jeb.
I cannot disagree.
It would be great if McConnell, Graham, Roberts, Cornyn and Alexander could also lose in November.
Mainstream GOP upbeat?
The mainstream GOP can beat off.
There are plenty of TEA party candidates running for the House, and running on the state and local levels nationwide.
Who does the GOPe think won the 2010 midterm elections?
It sure as hell wasn’t the GOPe.
The Republican Establishment will hold onto power and maybe get more out of default because of Obama.
But when they fail to deliver and move us the wrong way with amended (not ended) Obamacare and amended Amnesty that they won’t ever call “Amnesty” the cat will be out of the bag and they delaying campaigns of pretend emotional conservative rhetoric will be up.
95 PERCENT OF ELECTED REPUBLICANS EITHER FAKE CONSERVATISM OR REPUDIATE IT AND SOONER OR LATER THAT WILL BE CLEAR TO THE MAJORITY OF THOSE WHO ARE CURRENTLY FALLING FOR THE CAMPAIGN OF THE POLITICAL MACHINE.
I don’t intend to vote for the 95 percent of Republicans who are not really conservative inspite of their emotional and contrived words.
What’s not being reported (or that I’ve seen), TP candidates won 5 out of 6 primaries in which the incumbent was retiring. And “(the “loss” was Oklahoma but the nominee isn’t bad.)”

Ben Sasse for Senate in Nebraska;
Joni Ernst for Senate in Iowa;
Alex Mooney for U.S. House in WV.
There are others.
It is tough to dislodge an incumbent - the bed is comfortable, the food is good - and he pockets are deep.
We need veto proof Congress - no if’s, and’s or but’s - need them all, no matter what we think of them.
Justin Amash too
Who is ‘we’, chief?
I don’t want liberal republicans in control.
They can have control of the senate when they get conservative.

As long as we have RINOs in Congress it will never be veto proof. Just take a look at every secure border, illegal alien protection/provision bill that has come up for vote recently. RINOs in mass voting for Obama’s demands. The only reason more RINOs didn’t join them is because it was an election year and even Linda Grahamnesty has to pretend to be conservative. Eliminating liberal republicans is just as important as eliminating democrats.
I bet they are giddy with Thad barely getting by, Roberts of KS got less than 50% of the primary vote, Lamar just under 50% in the TN primary, etc.
Come to Mississippi, you can vote in my place for the Haley Barbour hand picked stooge.
A lot can happen between now and 2016.
Like a new conservative parties with its own slate.
GOP-E, enjoy this year while it lasts.
So says Neville Chamberlain.
