When one speaks with fellow Republicans about the future of the GOP, it is common to receive some negative feedback. This is because many conservative/libertarian Republicans feel the party has simply not done enough to challenge the Obama agenda. There is a widespread feeling among the rank and file that the country is hurtling toward socialism while Republican leaders sit on the sidelines and either do nothing or propose ways to manage socialism more effectively.
...
I have given up on the GOP and am simply not sure it can ever be reformed.

For a Third Party to be effective, millions of voters need to join it, become active, recruit others and support its candidates. Moreover, millions of dollars would need to be raised to market the party and fight for ballot access changes. I propose that a website be set up that collects pledges. By that, I mean a person would log on, register themselves, and then electronically sign a pledge that commits him or her to vote for a Third Party when the party officially launches. Of course, such a pledge cannot be legally binding, but I doubt most voters would go through the process of registering themselves online unless they were serious. Of course, there would be some fraud, but that would be factored in when determining how much support the new party has.
The when part is the key to this effort. When the number of pledges reaches, say, twenty million voters nationwide, only then does the party launch and actually field candidates. The same kind of tactic could be used to raise money for the new party. When contribution pledges reaches, say, $50 million dollars, the party launches. No more feeble third parties that get 1% of the vote.

Geez I love her to bits and she is influential but she is no longer in the game.
The gameboard is shifting; you never know what players might return.
There is no possible transition to a conservative future without destroying the GOP first, and yes, this will entail more Democrat victories in the short run.
We were talking about this ten years ago. We were met with the same argument. If not now, when?
It’s time.
In the 90’s, Ross Perot put a lot of effort into his “Reform Party”, which had ideology similar to today’s “Tea Party”, and drew the same sort of voters. (The chief difference was that Perot provided money and leadership from the top down; the Tea Party movement at least started as grassroots up). Results of Reform Party: 2 terms of Bill & Hill, and as a bonus, Jesse Ventura as governor of Minnesota. Will repeating the same thing produce different results? I think not.
Conservatives are at major disadvantage, in that they want honest government, the rule of law, leaders with some semblance of moral character, and balanced, responsible budgets. This is hard to achieve, so we are always dissatisfied. Democrats are happy with any scoundrel who will give them something or condone their childish conduct; they do not think about the long term consequences.
Instead of new parties, we need to change our culture. People of adult age have to act like responsible adults to sustain a civilization.
Helping Democrats win is the whole point as some third parties are formed specifically for that purpose. Others are not but have the same result. If people are afraid to let Democrats win, then there will be no viable third party, plain and simple.
Right now, there’s no viable second party. As another said, nature abhors a vacuum.

What you DON’T do is reward back stabbers like McConnell. You fire them. The others may get the message.
How do you expect the “Representatives” to remember they work for us when the constituants forget?
If McConnell or Cornyn were at your business on your payroll, how would you respond if they printed out flyers and made “robocalls” painting you as a “racist?”
Dont you see how Bush and Romney are being position for the presidential run.
How many elections will go by for you until you get tired of being discarded?
The Democrats count on the dead vote; the Republicans count on the dumb vote.
It might help if they quit sabotaging their Conservative candidates.
The party leadership has already demonstrated repeatedly they prefer to lose a seat then give it up to a genuine Conservative.
Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining.
If the GOP were to break up, how will the splinter party get enough members?
Who is actually “splintering the party?” Take your complaints to the GOPe. They’re the ones who’ve attacked their own base.
Lets take a Senate win in a bi-year election and build for the National election with a strong candidate that we all get behind. We are dependent upon the conservative candidates to coalesce nothing else will produce it.
Just like we did the last three election cycles?
Do you know Einstein’s definition of insanity?
In the primaries, I spent plenty on ABR, but that didn't happen.
In the general elections, our next President was either going to be Romney or Obama, and I wasn't going to make it easier for Obama to get a second term.
Whenever a Republican with Conservative values and a Conservative message enters the scene the base is energized. The GOPe responds by squashing the Conservative.
Oh come on. I remember the 2012 primaries. Bachmann was leading early, but gaffed herself out of the race. Then Cain was leading, but he either couldn't control himself or caved under false accusations. The others weren't even a factor, until finally only Newt and Romney remained. Many of us supported Newt as the Conservative alternative, but even one on one Romney won easily. None of that was a result of arm twisting by the "GOPe".
OTOH, as I recall, Freepers did a pretty good job of "squashing" the Conservative candidates they didn't support during the 2012 primaries without help from the dreaded "GOPe".squashing
That is decided by the voters, unless you think the "GOPe" throws out the primary results and nominates their RINO.
Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining.
That wasn't me.
All you have to do is drag yourself out in November and vote. Vote. Vote for the lesser evil.
Sure thing Lenny.
I’ll give you two evils to choose from. They come in your front door, beat you to a pulp and rape your wife and daughter.
Alternately, they come in your back door, beat you to a pulp and rape your wife and daughter.
Come on Lenny. Vote, vote, vote! Now doesn’t “choosing the lesser evil” sound pretty damned stupid?
We need a second party, first.
And how do you propose to convince enough people to do all of this on a scale large enough to make an impact?
A lot of people in both parties have been waiting for something different. Even Howard Stern turned against the Democrats.
There is need and it takes time to rejuvenate GOP, take it back to Goldwater/Reagan conservatives.
RATs and communists took over Dems party and it took them years.
GOP drifted towards RATs and are showing their true RAT Light colors. (Thankyou Bohner)
Time for all out assault on GOP and RAT.
If conservatives can not take the GOP back, how in the hell can they hope to beat RATs???
Third party with conservatives can guaranty RATs rule forever! See Perot results.
Get behind Tea conservatives, elect them to GOP and RAT and dump the commies forever! ENOUGH!!!!
That is decided by the voters, unless you think the “GOPe” throws out the primary results and nominates their RINO.
So what exactly just happened in Mississippi? Yes, the “GOPe” has been at this for a while. It’s just before now they were a bit more subtle.
