Sorry about the paste from tablet. It should read:

Of course, the last 60 feet or so of the tunnel won’t be dug until a few hours before its use. That 60 feet would be the vertical ascent from the horizontal section of the tunnel to the surface.

I’ve heard that the only effective time to detect tunnels is during their digging. Bear in mind that detection equipment will have a hard time with the sections under buildings.

I know nothing, so pardon my ignorance, but isn’t there something that they could use to help them detect tunnels .... I’m thinking imaging equipment maybe used by the oil industry or something that could ‘multi-task’ for a project like this or be modified?

The Gaza tunnels went through rock in places and the Israelis found some advanced drills that were used - could ‘seismic’ monitors of some sort detect drilling?

Israel, now that they’ve seen the sophistication of Hamas’s tunnels (and those suckers were DEEP!!) is going to have to think out of the box to detect/find these things because tunnels are a huge threat & likely will continue to be.

I understand CBP has used ground penetrating radar against drug tunnels. Not sure how well it works, though.

The bearded savages have a lot of energy - to kill Jews. If they would use their extreme physical energy and their limited mental powers they would not be living in dirt and drinking camel pee and blood.
Instead they build tunnels to kill Jews. They are obsessed with killing Jews.
They are subhuman savages and deserve no better name.

I read just the other day that residents in the area along the Lebanese border have been saying that they hear noises underground. I suspect this is the reason that Israel is going to investigate.

It is - that ground is a lot rockier & harder than what Hamas was digging through in Gaza, which was mostly sandier soil. The thinking is that the digging/drilling is louder since it’s harder material they’re dealing with. They may not be able to get the tunnels as deep either which would make it easier to hear them working. I’ll be very curious as to what they find .... I’m betting they do find tunnels.

Don’t the South Koreans put microphones in the ground? Sometimes low tech is the way to go.

I don’t see how they couldn’t drill a bunch of wells and put acoustical sensors in them. It wouldn’t cost as much as one new fighter jet.

That sounds quite reasonable to me.

From what I can tell (Hannity toured the tunnels yesterday which was an ‘eye-opener’), Israel knew there were tunnels but were taken by surprise as to the extent of the construction (concrete, electricity, etc.). I suspect they’re going to be “on top” of the tunnel situation going forward and a lot more pro-active.

Why bother to detect the tunnels? Maybe they should just drill 80’ holes every 50’ and fill them with high explosives and detonate them all at once and collapse anything underground.

Any tunnels they find they should pump full of untreated and odorless natural gas and then ignite the whole tunnel and blow anything above them to hell.

and the sad thing is when people in their group wake up and realize this they are killed for “betraying the revolution”....
