... The GOP maintains that Obama has failed to faithfully execute the law, as is his constitutional duty. The Democrats say either "things are not as clear as you think" or "we're not doing anything Bush didn't do." And both sides talk about how many executive orders Obama has or has not issued.
But this dispute cannot be resolved by counting the numbers of executive orders.
This has been an interesting fight for political specialists to watch. It involves a serious discussion about the appropriate range of executive discretion. This is not a new fight, and the issue ought to be one of broad public concern. Almost none of the concerns the GOP raises about executive power is at all novel. In this dispute, Obama's number of executive orders is pretty close to irrelevant. The content of executive discretion, broadly conceived, is of the essence.

About time somebody wrote about this aspect of King Obama’s executive orders.
Duh.
It's what I call the "Little Johnny" defense. Little Johnny in the third grade is misbehaving in class. When the teacher confronts him about his behavior, instead of accepting responsibility for his actions, he points to one of his classmates and says "why are you picking on me?....he was doing it too!"
Executive Orders are a legitimate tool available to any president. It's not the number of Executive Orders that are issued, it's the content of a specific order. If I run a Stop sign, I've broken the law. If someone else murders someone, they've also broken the law. Are the two actions equal in their severity? Of course not.....but that's what Obama's supporters would have us believe in regard to Executive Orders.
Over the years, the executive branch has expanded its reach to just about every aspect of American life. With all of the czars and departments and alphabet agencies, it should be no surprise to anyone that the executive branch can act on its own with no oversight.
The Framers did not intend the executive branch to have this much power. We’re well past the point of tyrannical oversight.
You still need 67. Short of that he can do pretty much as he pleases. If it provokes a civil uprising he will declare martial law and invalidate the constitution. IOW he is in the drivers seat, put there by the low info voters, complicient MSM, gutless Republican electors and a gang of money from left wing sympathisers. God save the Republic.
Set up piece. The Slimes is trying to make an argument that Republicans will look at and say, “yeah, we need to impeach.” Republicans should look at this, step back and worry about this after the election.
It isn’t going anywhere and before they act, they should be bringing in people like Ted Cruz and other Constitutional scholars to lay out the High Crimes and strategize how they can move forward.
The problem is they have to do this and have to do it in a way that minimizes the medias criticism.
Has he ever acted “inside” the law? Now that would be real news.
Is the Pope Catholic?
